Sunday Stealing

The Over the Top Meme

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing. Sunday Stealing originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard of the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we also have our rules. First, we always credit the blog that we stole it from and we will “fess up” to the blog owner where we stole the meme. We also provide a link to the victim's post. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") We dosometimes edit the original meme, usually to make itmore relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, sometimes to select that meme's best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from either this new meme or recently asked questions from a prior featured meme. Let's go!

Today we ripped this memeoff a blogger named Linda (A good friend of ours!) at the blog Are We There Yet??. Linda changed the meme a bit and so did we. She states that Sandy of Traveling Bells passed on the meme with a blog award called the Over the Top Award. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

Cheers to all us thieves!

Thursday Thunks (2)

Welcome to the November 12th version of Thursday Thunks!
(which we always seem to post on Wednesday)

Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!

We pick a subject, and your job is to interpret it anyway you want. Write about it on your blog... simple as that. Maybe you can interpret it as a picture - we don't care!
Please only leave a link if you have written a Thursday Thunks post. Please mention us in your post, and link back to the blog here.
Don't forget to go visit the other participants' blogs. Read and comment about all their Thursday Thunks! Thats what all this is about afterall, isn't it? We'll have so much fun and become lifelong friends....

This week we will answer some

crazy questions brought to you by

Kimber & her fathead hubby Anthony, the color of chocolateand the number 2.

1. Thursday Thunks is written by 2 insane women (Berleen & Kimber) that have never met face to face yet are best friends. One lives in Minnesota and the other in Arizona. They keep trying to convince each other to move to their state. What color house will Berleen have here in Arizona? a very pale, pale yellow

2. Do you dream in black & white or color, and how do you know your brain isn't just playing games with you? i think in color and i know my brain makes fun of me...been doing that for many, many moons

3. Does bubble gum lose it's flavor on the bedpost? i don't know that it loses as much as mine picked up the mahogeny flavor. (that i have an excellent memory of! i even can remember what copper pennies tasted like .)

4. We're buying Underoos. Which superhero do you pick? not a clue...i know nothing of underoos...way after my time and no kids to teach me...so i guess i will have to figure it out when i get there.

5. Do you think if you yell loud enough while watching your favorite sporting event, it makes a difference in the outcome of the event? nononono...there is no yelling while they are skating! clapping to the music...yes, but no yelling! now after they have finished their program, then lots of yelling and clapping like made for you favs!

6. Is the word gullible in the dictionary? my dad seemed to think it was big in my personal dictionary! now if you are wanting me to check spelling...not going to happen! talking i can do, math and spelling are beyond me!

7. If you could pick any currancy to be the face on which currancy would it be? a german finning...it is the smallest piece of currency i have ever seen...so the picture could be of any one and not scare small children.

8. What was your imaginary friend's name as a kid, and did they ever annoy you or just us? i had no imaginary friend...didn't need one...i had sisters and we shared rooms forever! besides, i never needed anyone to get me into trouble...i mastered it all by myself (and took my younger sister with me).

9. Do you think it's ironic that the poop deck is in the rear of the ship? i've never thought about it and i don't want to now either...i just want to be a party pooper!

Thank you to my hubby for helping with insane questions when we are both sick, and you now know the crazy I married. No drugs, just insanity. And lots of laughter. Can't wait to read your answers.

Thursday Thunks (times 2) as I missed it last week

COVER ALERT! Darkly Luminous Fight for Persephone Parker

OK, Babbling about books got it first...and I copied it from her site but...well, you know how much I liked THE STRANGELY BEAUTIFY TALE OF PERSEY PARKER! What did you expect!?! Dorchester release April 27, 2010. Will I last that long?
I also copied this for you as some of you have eyes as bad as mine!
Here's the synopsis blurb:

With radiant, snow white skin and hair, Percy Parker was a beacon for Fate. True love had found her, in the tempestuous form of Professor Alexi Rychman. But her mythic destiny was not complete. Accompanying the ghosts with which she alone could converse, new and terrifying omens loomed. A war was coming, a desperate ploy of a spectral host. Victorian London would be overrun. Yet, Percy kept faith. Within the mighty bastion of Athens Academy, alongside The Guard whose magic shielded mortals from the agents of the Underworld, she counted herself among friends. Wreathed in hallowed fire, they would stand together, no matter what dreams or nightmares—might come.

Desert Rose Shawl by Renee Leverington

First I am going to show you some lovely photos of this beautiful shawl that Sandra Singh has up at her shop.

Get ready to "oo" and "aw"!

THE DESERT ROSE SHAWL BY RENEE LEVERINGTON
A CLOSE UP
A FRONT VIEW
A BACK VIEW
The beautiful Desert Rose shawl was designed by Renee Leverington of "Goddess Knits" exclusively for Sandrasingh.com and knit in The Alpaca Yarn Company's lace yarn Suri Elegance. Renee Leverington grew up in Arizona where the crystal Desert Rose is abundant, these beautiful rosette shaped crystals inspired Renee to create her elegant Desert Rose Shawl.

THE LUSHIOUS YARN IT WAS MADE FROM
Suri Elegance
The Desert Rose Shawl's beautiful knit fabric, with exquisite drape, is created from The Alpaca Yarn Company's 100% suri alpaca lace weight yarn Suri Elegance. Its knit from the top down and consists of two identical sections worked together with a dividing stitch and garter edge stitches, the pattern is charted.

Personally, I am in love (read "lust") with Falling Leaves and Middle Earth! Now if you want to try your hand at this project or am a "fiberholic" like I am, head on over to SandraSingh.com and read all about the pattern and yarn and everything! I just liberated some of the highlights from her site.

Southern Women

We have not had a good laugh for a while so I submit the following as it was sent to me by my niece, Stacey:

Southern women know their summer weather report:
Humidity
Humidity
Humidity

Southern women know their vacation spots:
The beach
The rivuh
The crick

Southern women know every body's first name:
Honey
Darlin'
Shugah

Southern women know the movies that speak to their hearts:
Fried Green Tomatoes
Driving Miss Daisy
Steel Magnolias
Gone with the Wind

Southern women know their religions:
Baptist
Methodist
Football

Southern women know their cities dripping with Southern charm:
Chawl'stn
S'vanah
Foat Wuth
N'awlins
Addlanna

Southern women know their elegant gentlemen:
Men in uniform
Men in tuxedos
Rhett Butler

Southern women know their prime real estate:
The Mall
The Spa
The Beauty Salon

Southern women know the three deadly sins:
Having bad hair and nails
Having bad manners
Cooking bad food

More Southern-isms:

Only a Southerner knows the difference between a "hissie fit" and a "conniption fit", and that you don't "have" them, you "pitch" them.

Only a Southerner knows how many fish, collard greens, turnip greens, peas, beans, etc, make up "a mess".

Only a Southerner can show or point out to you the general direction of "yonder".

Only a Southern knows exactly how long "directly" is, as in: "Going to town, be back drekly (directly)."

Even Southern babies know that "Gimme some sugar: is not a request for the white granular, sweet substance that sits in a pretty little bowl in the middle of the table.

All Southerners know exactly when "by and by" is. They might not use the term, but they know the concept well.

Only a Southerner knows instinctively that the best jester of solace for a neighbor who's got trouble is a plate of hot fried chicken and a big bowl of cold potato salad. If the neighbor's trouble is a real crisis, they also know to add a large banana puddin'!

Only Southerners grow up knowing the difference between "right near" and "a right far piece". They also know that "just down the road" can be 1 mile or 20.

Only a Southerner both knows and understand the difference between a redneck, a good ol' boy, and po' white trash.

No true Southerner would ever assume that the car with the flashing turn signal is actually going to make a turn.

A Southerner knows that "fixin" can be used as a noun, a verb, or an adverb.

Only Southerners make friends while standing in lines, ...and when we're "in line", we talk to everybody!

Put 100 Southerners in a room and half of them will discover they are related, even if only by marriage.

In the South, "y'all" is singular, "all y'all" is plural.

Southerners know "grits" comes from corn and how to eat them.

Every Southerner knows tomatoes with eggs, bacon, grits, and coffee are perfectly wonderful; that red eye gravy is also a breakfast food, and that fried green tomatoes are not a breakfast food.

When you hear someone say, "Well, I caught myself lookin'," you know you are in the presence of a genuine Southerner!

Only true Southerners say "sweet tea" and "sweet milk". Sweet tea indicates the need for sugar and lots of it. We do not like our tea unsweetened. "Sweet milk" means you don't want buttermilk.

A true Southern knows you don't scream obscenities at little old ladies who drive 30 mph on the freeway. You just say, "Bless her heart" and go on your own way.

To those of you who are still a little embarrassed by your Southerness: Take two tent revivals and a does of sausage gravy and call in the morning, bless your heart!

And to those of you are still having a hard time understanding all this Southern stuff, bless your hearts, I hear they are fixin' to have classes on Southerness as a second language!

And for those that are not from the South but have lived here for a long time, all y'all need a sign to hang on y'all's front porch that reads "I'm not from the South, but I got here as fast as I could!"

Southern women know men may come and go, but friends are fahevah!

Now Shugah, if you're a Northern transplant, bless your little heart, fake it. We know you got here as fast as you could.
