Desert Rose Shawl by Renee Leverington

First I am going to show you some lovely photos of this beautiful shawl that Sandra Singh has up at her shop.

Get ready to "oo" and "aw"!

The beautiful Desert Rose shawl was designed by Renee Leverington of "Goddess Knits" exclusively for Sandrasingh.com and knit in The Alpaca Yarn Company's lace yarn Suri Elegance. Renee Leverington grew up in Arizona where the crystal Desert Rose is abundant, these beautiful rosette shaped crystals inspired Renee to create her elegant Desert Rose Shawl.

THE LUSHIOUS YARN IT WAS MADE FROM
Suri Elegance
The Desert Rose Shawl's beautiful knit fabric, with exquisite drape, is created from The Alpaca Yarn Company's 100% suri alpaca lace weight yarn Suri Elegance. Its knit from the top down and consists of two identical sections worked together with a dividing stitch and garter edge stitches, the pattern is charted.

Personally, I am in love (read "lust") with Falling Leaves and Middle Earth! Now if you want to try your hand at this project or am a "fiberholic" like I am, head on over to SandraSingh.com and read all about the pattern and yarn and everything! I just liberated some of the highlights from her site.

knitting jewelry?

kintters love dual purpose jewelry. a ravelry friend introduced me a new piece via a give away (no, i did not win). leslie wind is a knitter, a crocheter, and a maker of great jewelry!

but i had to show it to you. isn't i beautiful? this is it:

Cable Needle Necklaces™

The Heart Cable Needle Necklace™ measure about 2" high by about 2 1/2 wide. The sterling heart is slightly less than an inch including the loop for hanging.

The Sheep and The Cat measure aprox. 2" long X 2 1/2" wide. The sheep and cat are sterling and cut out by hand so each is unique. The needle is bronze and is between a #2 and #3 size due to the hammering.

Engraving of a short message on the back is free. Each Cable Needle Necklace™ comes with its own silk pouch and a 36" black leather cord.

i love this...and if you want to give me a present... (how's that for a subtle hint). i promise to do nothing that does not have cables in it!

so where can you find it? here

attention knitters/crocheters!!!

i know you have to think i have forgotten all my knitting/crocheting friends.

not true. most of the people i have been talking about are knitters/crocheters who have other interests similar to mine. i think knitting  and photography and art are all of a similar nature. we see colors that can work together, blend into one another or contrast against each other. i think that is why many of us get into dying yarn. somehow, we must translate colors we see onto blank yarn. lights and darks and shades and hues.

so many textures. we see textures. now that is one of the things that turns us into yarnaholics (see my portrait). textures turn us into knitters. we want to feel the yarn move thru our fingers and see/touch the resulting fabric. we have to make patterns. and then some of us are compelled to learn to spin ... how else will we get the yarn we want?

if you are not a knitter or crocheter, i hope this draws you into this wonder craft(s).
